Hello, I’m Rae

A 40 something year old woman, mum, daughter, sister, friend and more recently founder of a coaching and mentoring business ‘Coaching Women to Shine’.

I have two teenage boys and a young cocker spaniel. I love the outdoors, camping, walking and more recently gardening (an age thing?!), reading and listening to music. I am values driven and love learning.

I’ve experienced burnout, separation and spent several years navigating parallel parenting, divorce and family law courts.

I took time prioritising me, focusing on self-care, healing and really thinking about who I wanted to be and who I wanted to spend my time with.

On this journey of self-discovery, I invested in my personal and professional development and worked with some amazing coaches and therapists. I found my voice, rediscovered who I am and who I want to be. I took actions that previously I’d been afraid to do (self doubt, judgement, I’m sure you know what I am talking about) and I chose to be vulnerable, show up, take action. My coaches and mentors (yes, I have more than one) inspired me to use my talents and passions to trust in myself, recognise my worth and create my purpose supporting women.

I spent 25+ years working in the NHS. I fell into the role at 18 and with the support of a mentor or two along the way had a successful and varied career in People and Organisational Development roles. I was always learning, taking on new challenges, and wanting to make a difference to the colleagues I worked with.

My HR role as part of a Divisional Management team gave me the knowledge and experience that led to my passion for leadership and talent development. Designing, delivering and evaluating Leadership Programmes, being part of the leaders journey and watching them flourish was so rewarding. But where I really came alive was the 1:1 work with individuals to identify what was getting in their way, and how they could achieve their aspirations.

Working in a acute hospital during covid created opportunities and different ways of working. It gave me space to reflect and rediscover talents that I had lost sight of. I worked with a coach to (re) identify my values, vision and my purpose.

And, that is where the magic happened! I turned my learning, passion and energy into supporting other women like you and me focusing on career, wellbeing and happiness.

Together we will shine!

Coaching is my passion. Working with people 1:1 has always been part of my working life, but coaching is where I really light up. It’s my purpose.

I am curious, creative, compassionate, values driven, and honest.

And, this is what you can expect from our coaching sessions.

I listen, ask questions and observe the light bulb moments as you make connections, or identify a new insight.
